the kitchen behind your kitchen

Welcome to The Scullery: Where Flavor and Sustainability Meet

In Victorian times, the scullery was a humble space reserved for the grittier tasks of kitchen life. Today, The Scullery embodies a modern twist – a bustling hub where culinary creativity and sustainable practices converge.

Our journey began in a small kitchen nestled in West Asheville, NC, surrounded by the bounty of our own garden. Frustrated with deciphering ingredient labels and craving simpler, flavor-forward foods, we set out to create products that speak to our values and taste buds alike.

At The Scullery, excellence is non-negotiable. We meticulously grow as many ingredients as possible in our urban garden, partnering with trusted local farmers for additional produce. Every ingredient we use is sourced from reputable suppliers committed to minimalism and sustainability.

Our commitment extends beyond the kitchen. We proudly handcraft each batch in Asheville, NC, with care, intention, and love. Our production takes place on a 200-acre farm owned by the Southern Appalachian Highland Conservation group, supporting land conservation efforts with every purchase.

We're not just about creating products; we're about fostering community and sharing the joy of delicious, wholesome food. Our goal is simple yet profound: to be the kitchen behind your kitchen, enhancing your culinary adventures and making life more enjoyable, one flavorful bite at a time.

Join us at The Scullery and experience the harmony of flavor, sustainability, and community. Life is for living, and we're here to make it a little more delicious.

With Love and Flavor, The Scullery Family xoxo

Her Story

Photography by MillsapsCreative.com

I hail from a family where meals weren't just meals – they were events, discussions, and celebrations of flavor. Growing up surrounded by food enthusiasts and working in top-tier restaurants for two decades, I developed an unwavering passion for exceptional cuisine.

However, life threw us some culinary challenges. My father's Type II Diabetes diagnosis and my sister's food sensitivities sparked a journey towards healthful living without compromising on taste. Armed with my kitchen prowess and a determination for flavorful simplicity, I embarked on a mission to redefine good food.

Dissecting recipes became my obsession, separating essential ingredients from mere extras. The results were eye-opening – delicious dishes that were also nourishing and balanced. It's always been about flavor first, crafting culinary experiences rooted in classic simplicity yet bursting with thoughtful complexity.

My love for food extended to our garden, where each plant became a source of inspiration and nourishment. The joy of nurturing something from seed to plate fueled my exploration into canning, fermenting, and bottling – ensuring none of our harvest went to waste.

Over the years, friends and family have urged me to share these culinary treasures with the world. Now, I'm thrilled to invite you to experience the fruits of my labor – from small-batch hot sauces to future creations simmering in the cauldron of my imagination.

With Love and Flavor, Natalie xoxo
